Brandon, a Maryland resident with autism, uses self-directed services to support his independence, employment, and community involvement. With support from family, coworkers, and staff he directs himself, Brandon enjoys meaningful work, strong relationships, and the freedom to pursue his interests and goals.

Oscar Segal is 27 years old and lives in his own apartment in the Bronx, New York. He grew up with the expectation from his parents that he would work and support himself to the greatest extent possible. For the last seven years, he has worked for the Shake Shack restaurant chain. Francesca lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and works at the William Rowan Elementary School as a teacher's assistant. All her life, she has been interested in a career helping children. She began working in the school system as an AmeriCorps member, did very well, and was offered a paid job.

David is a 41-year-old man from Maryland. He enjoys being busy, often working at several paid and several volunteer jobs at the same time. David especially likes work related to film, CDs, and other media. He and his job coach benefited from the opportunity to work with a One-Stop Career Center to find this type of job.
